a morning in Berkeley

I haven't been to Berkeley for so long and finally I took a Friday off and went by myself to check out some new places and to visit my favorite spots! I also visited Albany for the first time, which is basically a very small city right next to Berkeley. I had a calm, tasty and beautiful morning that I'm happy to share here with you!

My day started at Bartavelle cafe , a tiny coffee shop on San Pablo Ave which serves breakfast and lunch. I usually go with the delicious avocado toast and add their perfectly made boiled egg and a coffee of course. I skipped on the cakes this time, but I promise to try some next time and let you know if I liked it!

Next to Bartavelle, if you see a long line, just stand in it. don't miss it!

Acme bakery has been located here since I was one year old, in 1983. They started with four different kinds of bread and today they offer more than 100 diffrent breads and baked goods. When my turn arrived I felt like I just stepped into a small bakery in Milan, the smell was absolutely amazing and I didn't know what to choose! In the end I went home with the Olive bread and Focaccia. I have to say that it was so good that for the rest of the weekend I was sorry that I didn't buy a few more things!

I went back to my car and after a few minutes arrived at Morningtide in Albany. Morningtide is a magical curated goods shop, run by two friends, Lisa and Lisa, both coming from a creative background. You can find women's clothing, handmade ceramics from different bay area artists, paper goods, beautiful kids products and much more!

I then continued to Flowerland Nursery & Store, a real kingdom of plants and the most beautiful nursery I have ever seen. Besides the wide range of plants that the nursery offers, you can also find a unique gift shop that carries home goods, books and ceramics- all about seeds, gardening and houseplants. The big bonus is that you can also find a cool coffee shop, Highwire coffee roasters, located inside a vintage airstream trailer, where you can enjoy your coffee surronded by beautiful flowers and plants.

On my way to the last stop for today, Tartine Bakery, I drove to the south side of berkeley and passed through the lovely and green area around the University of Berkeley. I wish I could be a student again...

The San Francisco-based bakery opened their Berkeley location recently, inside the Graduate hotel. You can have a coffee acompanied by their super tasty morning baked goods. My hands-down favorite is the morning bun.

When I drove home, Waze took me through the Claremont area, which I never saw before. I was amazed by the green mountains, the beautiful old style houses and the amazing blooming of the almond trees. I found myself smiling while driving, which means I had a really good day......
